Parking

A few options around the village — pick your spot by how long you’re staying.

A small amount of free on-street parking sits in front of the Church House Inn. The Church House Inn’s own car park charges by the hour. Down at the bottom of the village by the River Shack there’s a car park that charges by the day.

The gallery sits in one of South Devon's most beautiful corners. Pair the visit with…

🍻

The two village pubs

The Church House Inn in the middle and the Castle Inn just down the lane. Both do food, both do a pint, both are old enough to lean.

River Shack café

Café right on the quayside — coffee, cake, lunches, ice creams. The picture-window kind of spot.

🛒

Stoke Gabriel Stores

Village shop and post office under one roof — groceries, papers, parcels, and whatever you forgot to pack.

🚶

Riverside walks

Footpaths along the Dart in both directions. High path for views, low path for kingfishers.

🦀

Crabbing off the quay

Bring a bucket, a bit of bacon, and an hour. The kids will be busy; you can stay and watch the boats.

🛶

Paddleboarding

Launch from the village or hire from Totnes. Quiet water, low traffic, a sheltered loop downriver.

🍽️

Dinner at Emma's

Stay the evening — Emma's does dinner in the village, locally sourced and quietly excellent. Worth a booking on a busy weekend.

🍷

Sharpham Winery

On the next hillside over — Devon wine, vineyard walks, a café with views down the Dart. About 10 minutes by car.

🏕️

Local campsites

Several friendly campsites close to the village if you want to make a weekend of it — riverside pitches within walking distance of the gallery.
