A Face in Hpa-An

Hpa-An is a quiet riverside town in eastern Myanmar, ringed by dramatic limestone peaks and watched over by the great Mount Zwegabin. We were there on the eve of Thingyan, the country's New Year water festival, when the streets fill with buckets and hoses and water is thrown to wash away the troubles of the year gone by. Amid all the anticipation, we met this man — he simply had such a striking presence that we asked if we might take his portrait. He kindly agreed.
