A Delicate Balance

On Inle Lake, the Intha fishermen row standing — one leg wrapped around the oar, balanced on the very edge of their narrow canoes. We spent four days out on the water, watching them work: poised, unhurried, almost dancing on the lake's still surface. This image belongs to our Dancing on the Edge series, made in witness to a way of life held in perfect, precarious balance. This image, "A Delicate Balance", was captured on Inle Lake, Myanmar.
