Our Story

IT’S THE JOURNEY, NOT THE DESTINATION!

River Dart Gallery is the culmination of its two founding photographers, Kirsty Gilbert-Browning & Jason Browning.

Upon meeting we united as a photographic couple equally obsessed with the discovery of the photographic image.

We have travelled to many beautiful & amazing places around the world.

From 2004 to 2010 this photographic couple was running Gilbertbrowning Studios, a successful commercial studio in Philadelphia, USA.

In 2010 they returned to the village in which Kirsty was raised.

Refocusing their attention to Fine Art they traded in the city life for the rolling hills of the South West of England.

Offering Fine Art and Commercial photography services, River Dart Gallery was established in 2011.

In 2013 they took a break for two years to travel around the world. Travelling to 30 countries along the way and taking over 70,000 photographs they returned to Stoke Gabriel and opened River Dart Gallery.

River Dart Gallery was established in late 2015 as an art gallery, framing shop and commercial photography studio.

When they are not working at River Dart Gallery you will find them living on their boat on the River Dart and always with camera in hand.

Upon returning to the studio we spend time working on our computers manipulating the images to convey the feelings of the places we have visited.

Kirsty

My passion for art originates from my early influences from my childhood in a small village on the south coast of England.
From an early age I only had one dream and that was to travel the world with a camera in hand.
Starting my travels in the United States my life was put on pause when I was in a very serious car accident. Learning to walk again this time with the aid of a prosthesis meant putting my dreams on hold and was the hardest 5 years of my life. I received a scholarship to attend University of the Arts, in Philadelphia to study photography. It was here that I not only nurtured my artistic talents but I managed to completely ditch all walking aides and I graduated with honours. Upon leaving college I was in the process of starting up a photo business when I met my neighbour and my life would change forever. It was a partnership meant to be
